More than one thing (CASM 59)

God sometimes has us working on more than one thing at a time. In my limited thinking and ability, I would focus on one plan or purpose, and when a change took place I would become discouraged. Just because you have to pivot away from a goal does not mean you won’t come back to it at a later date. It also does not mean you were doing something wrong or not meant to do it. God is grooming, maturing, and positioning us to do greater things. The refining process is ongoing. Our purpose is broader than that one thing we fixate on.

Can Jesus trust you?

Jesus wants to entrust us with more than one thing, but only a few will rise to the occasion. Fear and doubt creep in. Our social calendars fill up with an abundance of activities. We’re too tired, hot, cold, and won’t rearrange our lives for the Lord but get upset when we cry out and the world does not move for us. I know there are legitimate reasons, but if we are honest our best is not always given to the Lord. Can Jesus trust you to be in your place and keep your commitments? Before you answer, look at your encounters with the people in your life and daily tasks. How’s your attitude towards them? Do you keep your word? Can people rely on you when you say you will be there? Do you find something wrong with everything?

These people are part of God’s plan. If we can’t show up for them, the question becomes can we show up for Jesus on a deeper level? There is a whole world out there that needs committed Christians. If your commitment level is an issue, confess that to the Lord and let Him work out the kinks so you can be used for more than one thing.

Now you’re ready

The Lord has removed me from a situation to bring me back revived, renewed, and ready to go. During that time of removal, He opened me up to new opportunities that otherwise I would not have encountered. Meeting new people, going to different places, and enjoying creation. My Bible and prayer time became more meaningful. My heart and mind were more aware of God’s repositioning and maneuvering me for His glory and my good. I was less frustrated and more joyful because I recognized God’s love shielding me.

Although sometimes it seemed as if I took the scenic route instead of the freeway to get back, I knew I was ready. How did I know? An abundance of time spent listening to the Lord. I let Jesus speak instead of me telling Him how the plan should go. Ms. Fixit took her place behind the Lord, and He led her to victory.

In conclusion

The plan God has for our lives is multifaceted. There are many components and moving parts that we may not understand. Don’t block yourself from advancing because you don’t know the details of God’s plan. What you do know is that God is right, just, and only desires the best for His children. In all honesty, if we knew all the details, we would still find something we would want to change about the plan. Trust the one who created you and put the desire in you that He will fulfill it in you.

ACTION ITEM(S)

  • Recall and meditate on the times God interceded and made a way when you thought there was no way.
  • When Jesus puts someone on your heart follow through. Keep your commitments with a right heart and attitude that honors Jesus.

Thank you so much for this Message! I have been a nurse since 1989 and have since started a career as a life insurance agent. I thought this transition would be smooth and flawless, however it is not. I blamed God for not snapping his fingers and making it work. I found out that he is using me for His purpose. Even though I continue to work at both professions I chose to Pivot (with my sisters Prodding and God’s grace) I have found a sense of peace. I know His plan is much better than what I think it is. Thank you for your tireless effort to keep us focused 🙏

I really like the perspective you put here! What a way to look at it! Can Jesus trust us!? I like that question! After all, it’s the least we can do! This is a really good picture to put in our minds daily and pray about. Thank you!
It’s also great to take notes and look back on times He interceded! I know it’s been more than once for myself!
I’m thankful we have a God we can trust and be guided and directed by! Thanks for these reminders.

    1. Ashley, That was a tough question I had to ask myself. We put so much emphasis on can we trust God but really don’t look at from the perspective of can God trust us. God is daily interceding for me on my behalf. Sometimes we over look the little things which can be the most profound. Ashley thank you for reading and your comment!
