Creating anxiety (CASM 68)

Are you the type of person that puts unnecessary deadlines on yourself? Trying to beat the clock. Now, there are plenty of scriptures that address laziness and procrastination. That mindset can cause you to miss deadlines, opportunities, and hearing the Holy Spirit. But, the person constantly trying to beat the clock relies on their ability and standards, not Jesus’. They’re trying to be good enough and impress the world by doing things and stuff. God said to be a doer of the Word, not stuff. It’s His plan we must focus on, not stuff. Even though it may be challenging, doing it God’s way can supernaturally be joyful. It won’t be in vain or empty. Relying on your strength is like a pendulum, highs, and lows, or a hamster wheel going nowhere fast. Creating anxiety puts the brakes on the Fruit of the Spirit. It’s a sure way to fizzle out your purpose.

I enjoy sharing this example of wasted energy. Have you ever been driving behind a car going much slower than you would like? In your haste, you zoom around them only for them to meet up with you at the next red light. I am cracking myself up as I write this. Guess who has done this more than once. All the dramatics didn’t get you to your destination any quicker. Not only was energy wasted, but so was your gasoline. Your blood pressure spiked. You feel silly because the person you thought you were beating is next to you. They enjoyed their drive. You on the other hand gripping the stirring wheel creating anxiety.

Loose lips, arrogance, and haughtiness are more wasted energy. It is shameful that CHRISTIANS can rip someone’s actions, character, and personality to pieces. But be the first ones to cry about how unfair the world is to them. The word for that is hypocrite! You reap what you sow. You will not escape God’s correction and chastening. That’s the Bible.

Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. Galatians 6:7

There’s a level of acceptance we must have with every situation. We must know where we stop and Jesus begins. He has to increase, and we must decrease. The Holy Spirit is our guide. He is not lacking in knowledge and wisdom; we are. Go beyond asking Jesus to help you and implement what He has told you more than once. That will remove a lot of anxiety and restore energy.

It’s so easy to zero in on the inconveniences of a situation. To speak about the dreadfulness and unpleasantness of life. When I keep rehashing or replaying the distressing parts of life, my anxiety goes up. When I give thanks, my praise and worship increase. Miraculously, Christ strengthens me. Supernaturally, restoration takes place. How, I can’t explain it. Who, It’s the Almighty Infinite Creator of all. The Advocate, Bread of Life, and Lord of Lords. He is the Messiah, Wonderful Counselor, and the Prince of Peace. Jesus, the Alpha and Omega, King of Kings, and the Way, Truth, and the Life, and so much more!!!

I never want to minimize the seriousness of trials we have in life. Job went through some serious trials with no fault of his own. There’s a difference between life happening to us and us creating life events. We can not compare bad behavior and wrong choices to Job.

God can use anything to accomplish His plan and get us back on track. But, if we’re honest we got off track because we deviated from His plan. Taking shortcuts and not doing what He asked. Or, doing too much that He didn’t tell us to do. All we are doing is creating anxiety and placing limitations on our INFINITE GOD.

  • What are you sowing? Are you sowing seeds of drama, division, discord, and criticism? If so, there’s a remedy. Repent. Turn to Jesus, confess, and allow Him to cleanse you from your sin. Recognize and remember, sin is what God calls sin, not what you think or feel. It’s not if you consider it a small or big sin, it’s a sin. Jesus paid a hefty price for our “small sins” so we can live.
  • Are you wasting energy? Regularly evaluate your actions. Ensure what you are sowing and giving your energy to aligns with the Bible.
  • If you are not excited about your purpose, call on Jesus. Share with Him what is creating anxiety in your life. Transformation is within reach.
  • Meditate on the names of Jesus.
